Personal Statement: I started Taekwondo when I was 5 in Hong Kong, as an after school activity. I fell in love with it after watching my seniors spar in class. I started to put more effort and time into practicing, learning, and studying this wonderful sport. My studio in Hong Kong mainly focused on the sport side of Taekwondo; thus, I was trained and supported as an athlete. I was selected for the Hong Kong Team of Taekwondo after I got my 1st degree black belt at 15. Joining the Hong Kong Team gave me a lot of chances to participate in overseas competitions and learn new skills and techniques. Representing Hong Kong in overseas tournaments was never my motivation, getting better at Taekwondo is. Taekwondo is never a sport to me; it is me. I always think that I didn’t choose Taekwondo, but Taekwondo chose me.
