Personal Statement: At an early age, Taekwondo instilled in me a great level of confidence, strength, respect and determination. I obtained my black belt in 1999 and started teaching and competing at numerous provincial, national and international sparring competitions. I was part of the Quebec and Canadian sparring teams from 2000-2006 where I trained with and competed against a number of Olympic athletes. I also had the chance to participate in a number of elite athlete training camps, both in Canada and the United States. After retiring from formal competition to dedicate time to my academic studies, I have continued training and instructing Taekwondo, not only for personal fitness, but also for the tenets that Taekwondo promotes: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. Teaching Taekwondo allows me to share the knowledge and passion that I have acquired and to witness the growth that Taekwondo imparts to students in both its practice and life outside the dojang.
